Wajshika B'atz / Celebrating the Tzolk'n New Year

This feast day
celebrates the
new year
in the 260 day
Tzolk'in
calendar
(also called the agricultural
or short count calendar).

We will spend Wajshika B'atz
in Momostenango ...  where the ceremonies and fires
burn in the hills throughout night of the new year. (That is where I took the above photo)
I've taken a few small groups (max of 6) for this experience.
chichi steps
We all thought it was more than amazing.

While there, we'll visit nearby markets,
(San Francisco el Alto is one of my favorites),
check out the blanket making  in Momostenango,
and learn more about what those fires mean in
Maya spirituality and healing practices.

Then we'll move on to Chichicastenango
for market day,  meet with a
spiritual guide and learn more about the Mayan
calendar and our own nahuales.

And then, of course, meditatively gorgeous
Lake Atitlan can't be missed ...

So we'll spend a few days,
and lovely warm nights,

We'll make a spirit house
get out on the lake in a boat
to visit nearby villages ...  and
have a chance to relax and ponder/digest
what we've experienced and learned.

Ok, and swim, hot tub, sauna, canoe at dawn, lounge in a hammock
 and shop, if so desired.
